A place to learn
Pointe-du-Buisson offers a third-cycle elementary program focusing on the social organization of a territory, deepening knowledge of how populations adapt and environments change. Activities guide students in making connections between the territory's assets and constraints, as well as its social organization, continuing the learning they began during their visit to the museum in the second cycle.
During the visit, students become apprentice archaeologists studying past lifestyles. Their imaginations are stimulated as they analyze artifacts from the past and their place in ancient lifestyles. Through comparison and categorization, students look for links between today's society and prehistory, in order to better understand it.
The objectives
The objectives of the Pointe-du-Buisson 3rd cycle of elementary school program are:
- Recognize the social and territorial realities of the past;
- Analyze the traces left by ancient societies to discover their meaning;
- Use the same tools and make the same gestures as an archaeologist, a specialist in researching the past;
- Manipulate objects common to the daily lives of people of the past to discover how they result from the adaptation of ancient populations to their environment.
