Preschool primary tour

A place to learn

The preschool program focuses on motor, social, cognitive and language development through the exploration of know-how and interpersonal skills in a museum environment.

At Pointe-du-Buisson, we believe that a visit to the museum is an experience in itself for the preschooler. It's a rhythmic, playful experience that helps lay the foundations for a child's conception of what a museum is.

A wide range of activities

To achieve this, we offer a range of activities in which the child is the master of his or her own learning. These include activities that build bridges between the museum's artifacts and the child's reality. In addition, some activities allow children to evolve in a new environment, while developing their motor skills. Other aspects of the visit allow for experimentation with games, giving children the chance to unleash their energy in a creative environment that encourages learning.

The objectives

The objectives of the Pointe-du-Buisson preschool program are:

  • Practise motor, social and language skills through play;
  • Define links between artifacts from the past and objects from the child’s reality;
  • Encouraging discovery.

Additional information:

  • 15 minute snack period and 30 minute lunch included (snack and lunch not provided)
  • Maximum number of children: 60
  • Activity time: 1 hour 30 minutes

All activities are supervised by activity leaders who help children structure their thinking through reasoning, deduction and symbolic representations.
